Bush Habitat Restoration Co-operative Limited offers a wide range of scientific and ecological services:
Ecological Restoration & Management
This includes various stages of bush regeneration, from primary and secondary works to long-term maintenance. We also provide specialised services for fire ecology, including preparation and post-fire regeneration. A core part of our work is habitat restoration, enhancement, and management, which includes the management and protection of threatened species.
Weed & Vegetation Control
The co-operative employs a variety of methods for weed control, targeting both environmental and noxious species. Techniques we use include brush cutting, chainsawing, and flame weeding to manage vegetation. We also perform direct seeding, brush matting, and mulching for effective revegetation.
Biodiversity Monitoring & Planning
A key scientific service is biodiversity monitoring, which involves using quantitative methods such as transects, quadrats, and photo-points to assess ecological change and success of restoration efforts. We also develop comprehensive management plans for various vegetation applications, and offer specialist advice along with training and education.
Other Specialised Services:
The co-operative also handles erosion control, including the installation of sediment fencing. We are involved in seed collection and storage, and manage small-scale revegetation projects from start to finish.
Additionally, we provide volunteer supervision for community-based ecological projects.
